While winter conditions in December 2006 and early January 2007 were fairly mild, this season is just the opposite. Record snowfall in December covered the ground, hiding the seed plants that are food for winter birds, but not the fruit trees. This may mean fewer birds at your feeders but more in your crab apple trees.
